EVOLVING TECHNOLOGIES
USE THEM NOT LEARN THEM
Jim Butz has consistently focused on helping clients Use technologies that help them connect with prospects, deliver content, and execute marketing campaigns to grow their businesses. His first book Content Market Your Way to Triple Business Growth showed people how they could grow their businesses using systems from the biggest social media and Internet companies. More importantly, companies like Apple, Google and LinkedIn provided this access at no charge. These companies understood that they needed access to large amounts of fresh, relevant content and found it worthwhile to provide access to their systems in exchange to gain access to the creators content.
His recent book “Spin Your Content into Gold” reflects the changes in this industry that occurred over the past few years. As a creator, you can still get free access to the top Internet technology and media company’s systems and facilities. More importantly, Facebook is now a powerhouse in this space where you have access to their 3 billion users using tools that Facebook provides. Although the facilities remain free, these companies are using paid advertising, which are major sources of revenue. One major change for the content creator is that there are more opportunities to generate revenues using their content and they are in complete control. Their content, or, more importantly, your content is more an asset than ever before. Just like Rumpelstiltskin who could generate gold from spinning straw, creators now can repurpose their content and grow their revenues while spending less time at work.
This evolution of emerging technologies will continue, but at a more rapid pace. Jim plans to continue following these technologies and better prepare his clients to deal with the impact these changes will have. They will impact the way we find and interact with new clients and create and distribute content to them.
For example, he believes that one evolution will allow creators to communicate with a global audience using real-time language translators. He expects that 3 billion new users will join the Internet in the next few years. However, most will be from outside the US. Think about it, that’s 10X the population of the US.
Also, we have moved from having to work one-to-one, to one-to-many with the advances in videos and webcasting. The next generation combines an array of technologies that will provide a one-to-infinity capability where your audience will include the world.
